Ornament Along Week 4: Quilted Ball Ornament!

This might be my favorite ornament so far! I am in love with how this turned out.

I made my Quilted Ball Ornament in the PEARL print from Shimmer On by Jennifer Sampou, Manchester Metallic in CHAMPAGNE, and Essex Linen in SPICE from Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

This ornament was easy to do after watching Mister Domestic's video. Check out his video tutorial, along with his write up, on his blog here.

Mathew talks about letting loose and having fun, but I tried to be perfect anyway. I couldn't help it with this one. I wanted the widths to be all uniform. Here are just a couple tips I found that helped:

When pinning, I first found the center of each piece by folding it a second time.

After unfolding to find the point where the folds cross, I inserted the pin just below that point. When I inserted the pin into the point where the folds intersect, then the pin got in the way of the fold and it gaped a bit and didn't look as neat.

I folded a scrap piece of fabric and used that as a guide to help me keep my widths uniform.
