The strips in a hexweave can be trimmed to form different geometric shapes. Made using Lizzy House for Andover Fabrics and Cotton + Steel.
Heavy Metal Hexweave
This hexweave is layered with narrower strips. The added layer serves two functions, to embellish and to help the larger strips keep their shape. In the upper left hand corner is the source of inspiration and instruction for this project: An image from the book Hex Weave & Mad Weave: An Introduction to Triaxial Weaving by Elizabeth Lang-Harris & Charlene St. John. The fabric is Heavy Metal from Windham Fabrics.
Heavy Metal Hexweave Close Up
Close up of the layered hexweave made with Heavy Metal Fabrics from Windham Fabrics. Quilting was done minimally, just 1/8 inch from either side of the dark purple strips, using a matching thread by Aurifil.
